Why can't I lose the weight?
Is peri-menopause actually making you gain weight?
We're going to talk about it because you're probably sat there thinking your hormones, specifically, peri-menopause, is the reason for your weight gain, especially around your belly.
It's comforting to have something to blame (if you stop reading now you'll miss out on how to lose that belly fat) but peri-menopause isn't why you're gaining weight.
Peri-menopause is real! The symptoms are one hell of a ride! And we have a battle on our hands no-one prepared us for but, your body still responds to the calories you eat.
I've recently held a 28 day shred with 16 women and overall they lost 40kg .
Now when we get smacked with peri-menopause the drop in oestrogen results in our body using other oestrogen receptors to try and take up the slack, and we have a lot of those in fat cells, which for most women accumulates around the belly and thighs, (childbirth reasons) and when we eat more calories than we need, those fat cells take up the additional calories for storage.
One thing I will never do is soften the facts for anyone, ask my partner, he hates how honest I am but one thing I've learned after 11 years doing this is that no one benefits from me not stating facts as they are.
I want you to answer this question:
If your pet was gaining weight, what would you do?
When you search "why am I gaining weight" I'm pretty certain the results will come back saying calorie surplus, eating more than you need and maybe some bs coach is claiming it's hormones and they have the perfect balancing protocol, but they're lying.
The women who lost weight during my 28 day shred just got honest with themselves because I asked them to cut out all the junk food and stick to a basic food plan. Yes it was hard at first but they all felt great after week 2!
Less bloated
More energy
Losing weight
Belly shrinking
The results speak for themselves and now they're all focused on eating better, fuelling their bodies properly and being aware of why they eat or want to drown their sorrows after a shite week at work.
Sometimes you don't need to start a diet, you just need to think about what you're eating, why you're eating it and going back to the basics of being more aware of the choices you're making.
If you're struggling to lose that weight or find yourself googling how to shift the belly fat, think about what you're choosing and how much of it you're putting away, because ultimately, calories matter a whole lot more than you admit (and you also need more than you think you do)
